Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Umm Salama (may Allah be well pleased with her) narrated that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Whoever is afflicted with a calamity should say: Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah, with You I seek the reward for my calamity, so grant me reward in it and replace it for me with something better.' When Abu Salama passed away, I said it, but whenever I reached the words 'and replace it with something better,' I would say to myself: 'Who is better than Abu Salama?' Then I said it. When her waiting period ended, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent Hadrat Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him) to propose to her on his behalf. She said to her son: 'O Umar, stand up and give the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in marriage.' So he married him. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) would come to consummate the marriage with her, but when she saw him, she would take her daughter Zaynab and place her in her lap, so the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) would leave. Ammar ibn Yasir learned of this — and he was her foster-brother — so he came to her and said: 'Where is this wretched, troublesome girl who has been annoying the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)?' He took her and went away with her. Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came and entered upon her, looking around the corners of the house, and stated: 'What has happened to little Zaynab?' They said: 'Ammar came and took her away.' So the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) consummated the marriage with her and stated: 'I shall not diminish anything for you from what I gave to such-and-such woman: two millstones, two water jars, and a pillow stuffed with palm fibre.' And he stated: 'If I stay seven nights with you, I will stay seven with [each of] my other wives.'
Urdu Translation
اُمّ المؤمنین حضرت ام سلمہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: جسے کوئی مصیبت پہنچے تو وہ کہے: بے شک ہم اللہ کے ہیں اور اسی کی طرف لوٹنے والے ہیں۔ اے اللہ! تیرے ہاں میں اپنی مصیبت کا اجر چاہتا ہوں، مجھے اس میں اجر دے اور اس سے بہتر بدلہ دے۔ جب ابو سلمہ کا انتقال ہوا تو میں نے یہ کلمات کہے لیکن جب بھی 'اس سے بہتر بدلہ دے' پر پہنچتی تو دل میں کہتی: ابو سلمہ سے بہتر کون ہے؟ پھر میں نے کہہ دیا۔ جب عدت پوری ہو گئی تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو اپنی طرف سے پیغامِ نکاح دے کر بھیجا۔ انہوں نے اپنے بیٹے سے کہا: اے عمر! کھڑے ہو اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا نکاح کر دو۔ تو اس نے نکاح کر دیا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ان کے پاس رخصتی کے لیے آتے تو جب وہ آپ کو دیکھتیں تو اپنی بیٹی زینب کو لے کر گود میں بٹھا لیتیں اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم واپس لوٹ جاتے۔ عمار بن یاسر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو پتا چلا — اور وہ ان کے رضاعی بھائی تھے — تو ان کے پاس آئے اور کہا: یہ شریر لڑکی کہاں ہے جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو تکلیف دے رہی ہے؟ اسے لے کر چلے گئے۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف لائے اور داخل ہوئے، گھر کے کونوں میں نظر ڈالی اور ارشاد فرمایا: زُناب (زینب) کا کیا ہوا؟ کہا گیا: عمار آئے اور اسے لے گئے۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے رخصتی فرمائی اور ارشاد فرمایا: میں تمہیں اس سے کم نہیں دوں گا جو میں نے فلاں کو دیا: دو چکیاں، دو مٹکے اور ایک تکیہ جس میں کھجور کا ریشہ بھرا ہوا ہے۔ اور ارشاد فرمایا: اگر میں تمہارے پاس سات دن ٹھہروں تو اپنی باقی بیویوں کے پاس بھی سات دن ٹھہروں گا۔
