Abu Moosa came to al-Hasan bin ʿAli to visit him when he was sick. ʿAli ؓ said: Have you come to visit him or to gloat? He said: No. I have come to visit him because he is sick. ʿAli ؓ said to him: Since you have come to visit him because he is sick, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “If a man visits his Muslim brother when he is sick, he is walking amongst the fruits of Paradise until he sits down, and when he sits down he is covered with mercy. If it is morning, seventy thousand angels will send blessings upon him until evening, and if it is evening, seventy thousand angels will send blessings upon him until morning.ʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 612) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ جَاءَ أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيُّ يَعُودُ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ أَجِئْتَ عَائِدًا أَمْ شَامِتًا؟ فَقَالَ بَلْ جِئْتَ عَائِدًا فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ إِنْ جِئْتَ عَائِدًا فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَتَى أَخَاهُ عَائِدًا فَهُوَ فِي خُرَافَةِ الْجَنَّةِ فَإِذَا جَلَسَ غَمَرَتْهُ الرَّحْمَةُ وَإِنْ كَانَ غُدْوَةً صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفَ مَلَكٍ حَتَّى يُمْسِيَ وَإِنْ كَانَ مُمْسِيًا صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفَ مَلَكٍ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ»
English Translation
Hadrat Ali al-Murtada (may Allah ennoble his countenance) narrated: Abu Musa came to visit al-Hasan ibn Ali when he was ill. Hadrat Ali (may Allah ennoble his countenance) said: "Have you come to visit him or to gloat?" He said: "No, I have come to visit him because he is sick." Hadrat Ali said: "Since you have come to visit him, I heard the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) state: 'When a man visits a sick person, he walks in the harvest of Paradise until he sits, and when he sits, he is enveloped in mercy.'"
Urdu Translation
حضرت علی المرتضیٰ کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم سے روایت ہے: ابو موسیٰ حضرت حسن بن علی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کی عیادت کو آئے جب وہ بیمار تھے۔ حضرت علی کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم نے فرمایا: کیا تم عیادت کو آئے ہو یا شماتت کو؟ انہوں نے کہا: نہیں، میں عیادت کو آیا ہوں کیونکہ وہ بیمار ہیں۔ حضرت علی نے فرمایا: جب تم عیادت کو آئے ہو تو سنو، میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے سنا، ارشاد فرمایا: «جب آدمی مریض کی عیادت کرتا ہے تو وہ جنت کے باغ میں چلتا ہے یہاں تک کہ بیٹھ جائے، اور جب بیٹھ جاتا ہے تو رحمت میں ڈوب جاتا ہے۔»
