English Translation

Abu Wa'il said: "A man who leads people in reciting the Quran came to Abdullah, and Abdullah said: 'Recite to me.' The man recited a passage from Surah Luqman. Abdullah said: 'You have recited from a surah that contains an obligation to prostrate.' Then he said: 'We do not go beyond ten verses until we know what they entail of commands and actions, and we learn both the Quran and how to act upon it together.'"
