Arabic (Original)
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ :" كُنَّا يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ أَلْفًا وَأَرْبَعَ مِائَةٍ، فَبَايَعْنَاهُ وَعُمَرُ آخِذٌ بِيَدِهِ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ وَهِيَ : سَمُرَةٌ ، وَقَالَ : بَايَعْنَاهُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نَفِرّ، وَلَمْ نُبَايِعْهُ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ "
English Translation
Hadrat Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrated: We were one thousand four hundred on the day of Hudaibiyyah. We pledged allegiance to him while Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) was holding his hand under the tree — and it was an acacia tree. He said: We pledged allegiance to him that we would not flee, and we did not pledge on death.
Urdu Translation
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے: ہم حدیبیہ کے دن چودہ سو تھے۔ ہم نے آپ سے بیعت کی اور حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ آپ کا ہاتھ پکڑے ہوئے تھے درخت کے نیچے — اور وہ ببول کا درخت تھا۔ فرمایا: ہم نے اس بات پر بیعت کی کہ ہم بھاگیں گے نہیں، اور ہم نے موت پر بیعت نہیں کی تھی۔
