Arabic (Original)
عَنِ اَلْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: { اِنْكَسَفَتِ اَلشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَوْمَ مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ, فَقَالَ اَلنَّاسُ: اِنْكَسَفَتِ اَلشَّمْسُ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ, فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم - "إِنَّ اَلشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اَللَّهِ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ, فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُمَا, فَادْعُوا اَللَّهَ وَصَلُّوا, حَتَّى تَنْكَشِفَ" } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه البخاري (1043)، ومسلم (915)، وليس عند مسلم قول الناس، كما أنه ليس عند البخاري: "حتى تنكشف".
English Translation
It is narrated by Hadrat Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be well pleased with him) that there was a solar eclipse in the time of Allah's Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) on the day his son Ibrahim (upon him be peace) died. The people said, "The eclipse of the sun has happened due to the death of Ibrahim." Allah's Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "The sun and the moon are two of Allah's signs; they are not eclipsed due to the death or the life of anyone. So when you see them (the eclipse of the moon or sun) supplicate to Allah and offer prayers until the eclipse is over." .
Urdu Translation
حضرت مغیرہ بن شعبہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے زمانے میں سورج گرہن ہوا، اس دن آپ کے فرزند ابراہیم علیہ السلام کا انتقال ہوا تھا۔ لوگوں نے کہا: ابراہیم کی وفات کی وجہ سے سورج گرہن ہوا ہے۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: سورج اور چاند اللہ تعالیٰ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں، کسی کی موت یا زندگی سے گرہن نہیں ہوتا۔ جب تم یہ دیکھو تو اللہ تعالیٰ سے دعا کرو اور نماز پڑھو۔ (متفق علیہ)
