English Translation
Narrated Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: "Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the hearts of the people, but rather He takes it away by taking the scholars, until no scholar remains. Then the people will take ignorant leaders who, when asked, will give rulings without knowledge—they will go astray and lead others astray."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمرو بن عاص رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہمیں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا:”اللہ علم کو اس طرح نہیں اٹھاتا کہ بندوں (کے سینوں) سے نکال لے، بلکہ علماء کو موت دے کر علم کو اٹھاتا ہے، یہاں تک کہ جب کوئی عالم باقی نہ رہے گا تو لوگ جاہلوں کو سردار (مفتی و پیشوا) بنا لیں گے اور ان سے (دینی مسائل) پوچھے جائیں گے اور وہ بغیر علم کے فتویٰ دیں گے (خود بھی) گمراہ ہوں گے اور (دوسروں کو بھی) گمراہ کریں گے۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 86]
