English Translation
Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) commanded us to give charity, one of us would go to the market and work as a porter. If he earned a Mudd (a measure of grain), he would give it in charity. (Such was the state of poverty at that time.) Yet today, some of them possess a hundred thousand dirhams.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابومسعود انصاری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمجب ہمیں صدقہ کا حکم دیتے تھے تو کوئی شخص ہم میں سے بازار کی طرف جاتا اور بار برداری کرتا۔ پھر اگر اسے مزدوری میں ایک مد (غلہ وغیرہ) مل جاتا تو اسی کو صدقہ میں دے دیتا۔ (اس وقت ایسی تنگدستی کی حالت تھی) اور آج بعض لوگوں کے پاس ایک لاکھ درہم موجود ہیں۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 714]
