English Translation
Al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "During the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Abu Bakr, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), the adhan for Friday was called when the imam sat on the minbar. When Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) became caliph and the people increased in number, he added a third adhan at al-Zawra'." (Imam al-Bukhari said that al-Zawra' is a place in the market of Madinah.)
Urdu Translation
سیدنا سائب بن یزید رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہجمعہ کے دن اذان نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماور امیرالمؤمنین ابوبکر صدیق اور عمر فاروق رضی اللہ عنہما کے دور میں اس وقت ہوتی تھی جب امام منبر پر بیٹھ جاتا پھر عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ (خلیفہ) ہوئے اور (مسلمان) لوگ زیادہ ہو گئے تو عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے زوراء پر تیسری اذان بڑھا دی۔ (امام بخاری رحمتہ اللہ نے کہا کہ زوراء مدینہ کے بازار میں مقام کا نام ہے)۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 509]
