English Translation
Narrated Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both): A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and asked, "Will we be held accountable for the deeds we did during the Days of Ignorance?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever did good deeds in (the state of) Islam will not be held accountable for the sins of the Days of Ignorance, and whoever did not do good deeds in (the state of) Islam will be held accountable for all his sins, the earlier and the later (that is, of both the era of Ignorance and the era of Islam)."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہایک شخص رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی خدمت میں حاضر ہو کر عرض کرنے لگا کہ کیا ہم سے ان فعلوں کا بھی مؤاخذہ ہو گا جو دور جاہلیت میں ہم نے کیے ہیں؟ تو نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”جس نے (حالت) اسلام میں اچھے کام کیے اس سے دور جاہلیت کے گناہوں کا مؤاخذہ نہ کیا جائے گا اور جس نے (حالت) اسلام میں نیک عمل نہ کیے تو اس سے اگلے پچھلے (یعنی دور جاہلیت اور دور اسلام، دونوں ادوار کے) سب گناہوں کا مؤاخذہ ہو گا۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 2175]
