English Translation
Narrated Abu Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) narrated two accounts to me. I have witnessed the fulfillment of one, and I am awaiting the fulfillment of the other. The first account is this: "Trustworthiness first descended into the depths of men's hearts; then people came to know the command of trustworthiness from the Qur'an, and then they came to know it from the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as well." And the second account the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) related concerning the removal of trustworthiness: "Trustworthiness will very soon vanish. It will be such that a man will sleep, and trustworthiness will be taken out of his heart, leaving its trace like a faint mark. Then he will sleep again, and the remaining trustworthiness will be taken out, and its trace will be like a blister, as when you strike a spark with your foot and it swells, and you see it raised up though there is nothing within it. And people will get up in the morning to buy and sell, and there will hardly be anyone trustworthy. Trustworthy people will become so rare that people will say in astonishment: 'In such-and-such tribe there is a man, how trustworthy he is!' And about some man they will say: 'How refined, intelligent, and brave a man he is!' — though in his heart there is not even a mustard-seed's weight of faith." Then he says: There has passed over me a time when I did not care with whom I dealt: if he was a Muslim, his Islam would bring him to give me my right, and if he was a Christian, his ruler would compel him to give me my right. But nowadays I do not deal or buy and sell with anyone except so-and-so and so-and-so.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوحذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہمجھ سے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے دو حدیثیں بیان فرمائیں، ایک کا ظہور تو میں نے دیکھ لیا جبکہ دوسری کے ظہور کا منتظر ہوں۔ وہ پہلی حدیث یہ ہے:”امانتداری پہلے دلوں کی گہرائی میں اتری، پھر لوگوں نے قرآن سے بھی امانتداری کا حکم جان لیا اور پھر سنت نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے بھی جان لیا۔“اور دوسری حدیث رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے امانتداری کے اٹھ جانے کے متعلق ارشاد فرمائی:”امانتداری بہت جلد جاتی رہے گی اور ایسا ہو گا کہ آدمی سوئے گا اور امانتداری اس کے دل سے نکال لی جائیگی۔ اس کا اثر ایک نقل کی طرح رہ جائے گا پھر سوئے گا تو باقی امانتداری بھی نکال لی جائے گی اور اس کا نشان ایک آبلہ سا ہو گا جیسے چنگاری کو اگر تو پاؤں سے ٹھکرا دے اور وہ پھول جائے اور اسے تو ابھرا ہوا دیکھے حالانکہ اس میں کچھ بھی نہیں ہوتا اور صبح کو لوگ اٹھ کر خریدوفروخت کریں گے اور امانتدار کوئی بھی نہ ہو گا۔ امانتدار ایسے شاذ و نادر ہو جائیں گے کہ لوگ تعجب سے یوں کہیں گے (کہ بھائی) فلاں قبیلہ میں فلاں شخص کیسا امانتدار ہے اور کسی شخص کے متعلق یوں کہیں گے کہ کیسا ظریف و عقلمند اور دلاور آدمی ہے حالانکہ اس کے دل میں رائی کے دانہ کے برابر بھی ایمان نہ ہو گا۔“پھر بیان کرتے ہیں کہ مجھ پر ایک ایسا وقت گزر چکا ہے کہ مجھے کسی کے ساتھ معاملہ کرنے پر پروانہ ہوتی تھی۔ مسلمان کو اسلام حق کی طرف لے آتا اور عیسائی کو اس کے حاکم مجبور کر کے میرا حق دلا دیتے اور آج کل تو میں فلاں اور فلاں کے سوا کسی سے کوئی معاملہ یا خریدوفروخت نہیں کرتا۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 2114]
