English Translation
Narrated Aisha, Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her): When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) commanded the people to do good deeds, he would command them with deeds they could sustain. The Companions said, "O Messenger of Allah, we are not like you. Allah has forgiven your past and future sins." At this, he became angry until it was visible on his face. Then he said: "I am the most knowledgeable among you about Allah and the most fearful of Him."

ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا فرماتی ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمجب لوگوں کو (نیک اعمال کرنے کا) حکم دیتے تو ایسے اعمال کا حکم دیتے جن کو وہ (ہمیشہ) کر سکیں (عبادت شاقہ کی ترغیب کبھی ان کو نہ دیتے تھے تو ایک مرتبہ) صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم نے عرض کیا کہ اے اللہ کے رسول! ہم آپ کی مثل نہیں ہیں، بیشک اللہ نے آپ کے اگلے پچھلے سب گناہ معاف کر دیے ہیں (لہٰذا ہمیں آپ سے زیادہ عبادت کرنی چاہیے) اس پر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمغضبناک ہوئے حتیٰ کہ چہرہ (مبارک) میں غضب (کا اثر) ظاہر ہونے لگا۔ پھر فرمایا:”تم سب سے زیادہ اللہ تعالیٰ کا جاننے والا اور اس سے ڈرنے والا میں ہوں۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 20]
