English Translation
The (hadith) of Adi ibn Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) has passed (in the Book of Slaughtering and Hunting... the chapter on pronouncing Bismillah over game...), and in this report there is this addition: "...and if you shoot game with an arrow and find it (dead) after two or three days, and you perceive no sign of its death other than the wound of your arrow, then eating it is lawful; but if you find it fallen in water, then eating it is not lawful."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عدی بن حاتم رضی اللہ عنہ کی (حدیث، کتاب: ذبیحہ و شکار کا بیان۔۔۔ باب: شکار پر بسم اللہ پڑھنے کے بیان میں۔۔۔ گزری ہے) اور اس روایت میں اتنا زیادہ ہے کہ .... اور اگر تم نے شکار کو تیر مارا اور وہ (چوٹ کھانے کے بعد) تمہیں دو تین روز کے بعد (مردہ) ملے اور اگر تمہارے تیر کے زخم کے سوا اور کوئی علامت اس کے مرنے کی محسوس نہیں ہوتی تو اس کا کھانا درست ہے اور اگر پانی میں پڑا ہوا ملا تو اس کا کھانا جائز نہیں ہے۔“`۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1919]
