English Translation
It is narrated from Abdullah ibn Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw a man flicking pebbles with two fingers, so he said to him, "Do not flick (like this), for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade it," or "considered it disliked" (the narrator is uncertain), "and said that with this (there is no benefit, for) neither is any game caught nor is any enemy wounded, but the (pebble) breaks a tooth or puts out an eye (that is, apart from harm there is no benefit)." After that he saw him doing the same again and said, "I related to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) forbade flicking pebbles in this way, or considered it disliked, yet you are still doing it. Now I will not speak to you for such-and-such a period."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مغفل رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہانھوں نے ایک شخص کو دو انگلیوں سے کنکری پھینکتے ہوئے دیکھا تو اس سے کہا کہ (اس طرح) مت پھینکو کیونکہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس سے منع فرمایا ہے یا مکروہ سمجھا ہے (راوی کو شک ہے) اور فرمایا ہے کہ اس سے (کیا فائدہ کہ) نہ تو کوئی شکار ہی ہوتا ہے اور نہ دشمن ہی زخمی ہوتا ہے اور لیکن (کنکری) کسی کا دانت توڑ دیتی ہے یا آنکھ پھوڑ دیتی ہے (یعنی بجز نقصان کے کوئی نفع نہیں ہے) اس کے بعد انھوں نے اسے پھر اسی طرح کرتے ہوئے دیکھا اور کہا کہ میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی حدیث تجھ سے بیان کی تھی کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس طرح کنکری پھینکنے سے منع فرمایا یا مکروہ سمجھا ہے تو پھر بھی وہی کر رہا ہے، اب میں تجھ سے اتنی مدت تک کلام نہ کروں گا۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1917]
