English Translation
It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that Barira's husband was a slave named Mughith. It is as though I can see him (the poor man) following her, weeping, with his tears dripping onto his beard. So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Abbas! Are you not amazed at Mughith's love for Barira and Barira's aversion to Mughith?" Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "O Barira! Go back to him (it would be better)." She said, "O Messenger of Allah! Are you commanding me to do so?" He (peace be upon him) said, "(No!) I am only interceding." So she (Barira) replied, "I have no need of him."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہبریرہ کا شوہر غلام تھا جس کا نام مغیث تھا گویا کہ میں دیکھ رہا ہوں وہ (بیچارہ) اس کے پیچھے روتا پھر رہا ہے اور اس کے آنسو ڈاڑھی پر ٹپ ٹپ گر رہے ہیں تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ سے فرمایا:”اے عباس! کیا تم کو مغیث کی بریرہ سے محبت اور بریرہ کی مغیث سے عداوت پر تعجب نہیں آتا؟“پھر نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”اے بریرہ! تو اس کے پاس چلی جا (تو اچھا ہے)۔“وہ بولی کہ یا رسول اللہ! کیا آپ مجھے یہ حکم فرماتے ہیں؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”(نہیں)! میں تو صرف سفارش کرتا ہوں۔“تو اس (بریرہ) نے جواب دیا کہ مجھے اس کی حاجت نہیں ہے۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1879]
