English Translation
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The Muslims follow the Quraysh in matters of leadership and the caliphate, just as the disbelievers (in the pre-Islamic era) also followed the Quraysh. People are like mines: those who were the best in Jahiliyyah are the best in Islam, provided they gain religious knowledge. You will find the most suitable for leadership is the one who most dislikes it."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ ہی سے روایت ہے کہنبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”مسلمان لوگ امامت اور خلافت میں مسلمان قریش کے تابع ہیں جیسے (عرب کے) کافر (کفر کے دور میں بھی) قریش کے تابع ہیں اور آدمیوں کا حال کانوں کی طرح ہے، جو لوگ جاہلیت کے دور میں بھی اچھے اور شریف تھے وہی اسلام کے دور میں بھی اچھے اور شریف ہیں بشرطیکہ دین کا علم حاصل کریں۔ تم بہت اچھا آدمی اس کو پاؤ گے جو سب سے زیادہ حکومت اور سرداری کو برا سمجھتا ہو، یہاں تک کہ اس میں گرفتار ہو جائے۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1456]
