English Translation
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Al-Khidr (peace be upon him) was called al-Khidr because he once sat on dry, barren land, and when he left, the ground turned green and lush."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے روایت کرتے ہیں کہآپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”خضر علیہ السلام کا نام اس لیے (خضر) رکھا گیا کہ وہ ایک خشک (بنجر) زمین پر بیٹھے (جہاں سبزی کا نام تک نہ تھا) جب وہ وہاں سے چلے تو زمین سرسبز ہو کر لہلہانے لگی۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1423]
