حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، قَالَ أَخَذَ عُمَرُ جُبَّةً مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ تُبَاعُ فِي السُّوقِ، فَأَخَذَهَا فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ابْتَعْ هَذِهِ تَجَمَّلْ بِهَا لِلْعِيدِ وَالْوُفُودِ. فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّمَا هَذِهِ لِبَاسُ مَنْ لاَ خَلاَقَ لَهُ ". فَلَبِثَ عُمَرُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَلْبَثَ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِجُبَّةِ دِيبَاجٍ، فَأَقْبَلَ بِهَا عُمَرُ، فَأَتَى بِهَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ قُلْتَ " إِنَّمَا هَذِهِ لِبَاسُ مَنْ لاَ خَلاَقَ لَهُ ". وَأَرْسَلْتَ إِلَىَّ بِهَذِهِ الْجُبَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " تَبِيعُهَا أَوْ تُصِيبُ بِهَا حَاجَتَكَ ".
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) says: Hadrat 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) took a brocade (thick silk) garment being sold in the market and brought it to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! Buy this and adorn yourself with it for Eid and when delegations come. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: This is the clothing of one who has no share (in the Hereafter). Some time passed, then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent a brocade garment to Hadrat Umar. He brought it to him and submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! You said that this is the clothing of one who has no share (in the Hereafter), yet you sent me this garment? The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: Sell it or fulfill your need with it.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں: حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بازار میں بکنے والی ایک دیباج (موٹے ریشم) کی جبّہ لیا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں لائے اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! یہ خرید لیجیے، عید اور وفود کے موقع پر اس سے آراستہ ہوں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: یہ تو اس شخص کا لباس ہے جس کا (آخرت میں) کوئی حصہ نہیں۔ کچھ عرصہ گزرا، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو ایک دیباج کا جبّہ بھیجا۔ حضرت عمر اسے لے کر آپ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! آپ نے فرمایا تھا کہ یہ اس شخص کا لباس ہے جس کا (آخرت میں) کوئی حصہ نہیں، پھر یہ جبّہ آپ نے مجھے بھیجا؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اسے بیچ ڈالو یا اس سے اپنی ضرورت پوری کر لو۔
