حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ مِنَ الأَعْرَجِ، يَقُولُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يُكْثِرُ الْحَدِيثَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَاللَّهُ الْمَوْعِدُ، إِنِّي كُنْتُ امْرَأً مِسْكِينًا أَلْزَمُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَلَى مِلْءِ بَطْنِي، وَكَانَ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ يَشْغَلُهُمُ الصَّفْقُ بِالأَسْوَاقِ، وَكَانَتِ الأَنْصَارُ يَشْغَلُهُمُ الْقِيَامُ عَلَى أَمْوَالِهِمْ، فَشَهِدْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَقَالَ " مَنْ يَبْسُطْ رِدَاءَهُ حَتَّى أَقْضِيَ مَقَالَتِي ثُمَّ يَقْبِضْهُ، فَلَنْ يَنْسَى شَيْئًا سَمِعَهُ مِنِّي ". فَبَسَطْتُ بُرْدَةً كَانَتْ عَلَىَّ، فَوَالَّذِي بَعَثَهُ بِالْحَقِّ مَا نَسِيتُ شَيْئًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْهُ.
English Translation
Hadrat Ali narrated to us, he said Sufyan narrated to us, he said al-Zuhri narrated to me, and he heard it from al-A'raj, who said: Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) informed me. Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "You people assume that Hadrat Abu Hurayrah narrates excessively from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) — and Allah is the One before Whom we shall be held to account. I was a poor man who stayed in the blessed company of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) for the sake of filling my stomach. The Muhajirun were occupied with trade in the markets, and the Ansar were occupied with tending to their properties. I was present one day in the blessed gathering of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and he declared: 'Whoever spreads out his garment until I finish my words, then gathers it, shall never forget anything he heard from me.' I spread out my garment — and I swear by the One Who sent him with the truth — I have never forgotten anything I heard from him."
Urdu Translation
ہم سے علی نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے سفیان نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا مجھ سے زہری نے بیان کیا کہ انہوں نے اعرج سے سنا، اعرج نے کہا: مجھے حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے خبر دی۔ حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: تم لوگ سمجھتے ہو کہ حضرت ابوہریرہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے بہت زیادہ حدیثیں بیان کرتا ہے — اللہ کے سامنے حساب ہے — میں ایک مسکین آدمی تھا، پیٹ بھرنے کی خاطر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بارگاہ میں ملازم رہتا تھا۔ مہاجرین کو بازاروں میں تجارت مشغول رکھتی تھی اور انصار کو اپنے مال و جائیداد کی دیکھ بھال مشغول رکھتی تھی۔ میں ایک دن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بارگاہ میں حاضر تھا، آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "جو شخص اپنی چادر پھیلائے یہاں تک کہ میں اپنی بات پوری کروں، پھر اسے سمیٹ لے، تو وہ کبھی نہیں بھولے گا جو اس نے مجھ سے سنا ہو۔" میں نے اپنی چادر پھیلائی — قسم اس ذات کی جس نے آپ کو حق کے ساتھ مبعوث فرمایا — میں کبھی نہیں بھولا جو میں نے آپ سے سنا۔
