حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلاَلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ بْنِ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ، يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ، وَأَبَا، هُرَيْرَةَ حَدَّثَاهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بَعَثَ أَخَا بَنِي عَدِيٍّ الأَنْصَارِيَّ وَاسْتَعْمَلَهُ عَلَى خَيْبَرَ، فَقَدِمَ بِتَمْرٍ جَنِيبٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَكُلُّ تَمْرِ خَيْبَرَ هَكَذَا ". قَالَ لاَ وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا لَنَشْتَرِي الصَّاعَ بِالصَّاعَيْنِ مِنَ الْجَمْعِ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ تَفْعَلُوا، وَلَكِنْ مِثْلاً بِمِثْلٍ، أَوْ بِيعُوا هَذَا وَاشْتَرُوا بِثَمَنِهِ مِنْ هَذَا وَكَذَلِكَ الْمِيزَانُ ".
English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, from his brother, from Sulayman bin Bilal, from Abd al-Majid bin Suhayl bin Abd al-Rahman bin Awf, who said he heard Sa'id bin al-Musayyab (upon him be mercy) narrate that Hadrat Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be well pleased with him) and Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) both narrated that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) appointed a man from Banu Adi of the Ansar as governor over Khaybar. He came with fine quality dates, so the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) asked him: "Are all the dates of Khaybar like this?" He submitted, "No, by Allah, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! We purchase one Sa' of the fine dates in exchange for two Sa' of the mixed dates." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: "Do not do so. Rather, exchange like for like, or sell these (mixed ones) and buy the fine ones with the proceeds. And the same applies to the scale (i.e., items sold by weight)."
Urdu Translation
ہم سے اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، ان سے ان کے بھائی نے، ان سے سلیمان بن حضرت بلال نے، ان سے عبدالمجید بن سہیل بن حضرت عبدالرحمٰن بن عوف نے بیان کیا کہ انہوں نے سعید بن مسیب رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ سے سنا کہ حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ اور حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے بنی عدی انصاری کے ایک شخص کو خیبر کا عامل بنا کر بھیجا۔ وہ عمدہ قسم کی کھجوریں لے کر آئے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان سے پوچھا: "کیا خیبر کی ساری کھجوریں ایسی ہی ہیں؟" انہوں نے عرض کیا: نہیں، واللہ! یا رسول اللہ! ہم ملی جلی کھجوروں کے دو صاع دے کر عمدہ کھجوروں کا ایک صاع خریدتے ہیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "ایسا نہ کرو، بلکہ برابر برابر (لین دین) کرو، یا یہ (ملی جلی) فروخت کرو اور اس کی قیمت سے عمدہ خریدو، اور اسی طرح ترازو (یعنی وزنی اشیاء) کا بھی معاملہ ہے۔"
