Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لَوْلاَ الْهِجْرَةُ لَكُنْتُ امْرَأً مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ، وَلَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا وَسَلَكَتِ الأَنْصَارُ وَادِيًا ـ أَوْ شِعْبًا ـ لَسَلَكْتُ وَادِيَ الأَنْصَارِ أَوْ شِعْبَ الأَنْصَارِ ".
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: 'Were it not for the (virtue of) Hijrah, I would have been one of the Ansar. And if all the people took one valley and the Ansar took a (different) valley — or mountain pass — I would take the valley of the Ansar — or the mountain pass of the Ansar.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اگر ہجرت (کی فضیلت) نہ ہوتی تو میں انصار میں سے ایک فرد ہونا (پسند کرتا)۔ اور اگر تمام لوگ ایک وادی میں چلیں اور انصار ایک (دوسری) وادی — یا گھاٹی — میں چلیں تو میں انصار کی وادی — یا گھاٹی — میں چلوں گا۔
