Hadrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that when the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) passed away and Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) became the Caliph, and some of the Arabs apostatized, Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) submitted: 'O Hadrat Abu Bakr! How can you fight these people when the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: I have been commanded to fight the people until they say La ilaha illallah. Whoever says La ilaha illallah has safeguarded his property and his life from me, except by the right of Islam, and his account is with Allah?' Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: 'By Allah! I will certainly fight whoever differentiates between prayer and zakat, for zakat is the right due on wealth. By Allah! If they withhold even a kid that they used to give to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), I will fight them over withholding it.' Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: 'By Allah! I realized that Allah had opened the heart of Hadrat Abu Bakr for fighting, and I knew that it was the truth.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا وصال مبارک ہوا اور حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ خلیفہ بنے، اور عرب کے بعض لوگ مرتد ہو گئے، تو حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے عرض کیا: اے حضرت ابوبکر! آپ لوگوں سے کیسے لڑیں گے جبکہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا ہے: مجھے حکم دیا گیا ہے کہ میں لوگوں سے جنگ کروں یہاں تک کہ وہ لا الہٰ الا اللہ کہیں، جس نے لا الہٰ الا اللہ کہہ دیا اس نے مجھ سے اپنا مال اور اپنی جان محفوظ کر لی سوائے اسلام کے حق کے، اور اس کا حساب اللہ تعالیٰ پر ہے۔ حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: اللہ کی قسم! میں ضرور ان سے لڑوں گا جو نماز اور زکوٰۃ میں فرق کریں گے، کیونکہ زکوٰۃ مال کا حق ہے۔ اللہ کی قسم! اگر وہ ایک بکری کا بچہ بھی روکیں گے جو وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو دیا کرتے تھے تو میں ان سے اس کو روکنے پر لڑوں گا۔ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: اللہ کی قسم! مجھے یقین ہو گیا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کا سینہ جنگ کے لیے کھول دیا ہے، تو میں نے جان لیا کہ یہی حق ہے۔
