حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ جَمَعَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَاسًا مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ، فَقَالَ " إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ وَمُصِيبَةٍ، وَإِنِّي أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَجْبُرَهُمْ وَأَتَأَلَّفَهُمْ أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا، وَتَرْجِعُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ ". قَالُوا بَلَى. قَالَ " لَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا وَسَلَكَتِ الأَنْصَارُ شِعْبًا لَسَلَكْتُ وَادِيَ الأَنْصَارِ أَوْ شِعْبَ الأَنْصَارِ ".
English Translation
Hadrat Anas (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gathered some people of the Ansar and declared, 'The people of Quraysh are still close to their Pre-Islamic period of ignorance and have suffered much, and I wanted to help them and win their hearts. Are you not pleased that the people take the worldly things and you take the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) with you to your homes?' They submitted, 'Yes, we are pleased, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)!' He declared, 'If the people were to walk in one valley and the Ansar in a mountain pass, I would walk in the mountain pass of the Ansar.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انصار کے کچھ لوگوں کو جمع فرمایا اور ارشاد فرمایا: قریش ابھی کفر اور مصیبت کے دور سے نکلے ہیں اور میں نے ان کی دلجوئی اور تالیف قلب کرنا چاہا ہے۔ کیا تم اس پر راضی نہیں ہو کہ لوگ دنیا لے کر جائیں اور تم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو لے کر اپنے گھروں میں واپس جاؤ؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا: ہاں، ہم راضی ہیں یا رسول اللہ! ارشاد فرمایا: اگر لوگ ایک وادی میں چلیں اور انصار ایک گھاٹی میں چلیں تو میں انصار کی گھاٹی میں چلوں گا۔
