Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ الَّذِي حَفِظْنَاهُ مِنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ سَمِعَ طَاوُسًا، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ يَقُولُ أَمَّا الَّذِي نَهَى عَنْهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَهْوَ الطَّعَامُ أَنْ يُبَاعَ حَتَّى يُقْبَضَ. قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَلاَ أَحْسِبُ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ إِلاَّ مِثْلَهُ.
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) who states: As for what the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) prohibited, it is the selling of foodstuff before taking possession of it. Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) states: I consider that everything (falls under the same ruling, i.e., nothing should be sold before taking possession of it).
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے، فرماتے ہیں: جس چیز سے نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے منع فرمایا وہ یہ ہے کہ غلہ قبضے سے پہلے بیچا جائے۔ حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں: میرا خیال ہے کہ ہر چیز (کا حکم) اسی طرح ہے (یعنی قبضے سے پہلے بیچنا جائز نہیں)۔
