Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمِ الْمُحَلِّقِينَ ". قَالُوا وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ " اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمِ الْمُحَلِّقِينَ ". قَالُوا وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ " وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ ". وَقَالَ اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ " رَحِمَ اللَّهُ الْمُحَلِّقِينَ " مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ. قَالَ وَقَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ وَقَالَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ " وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ ".
English Translation
It is narrated by Hadrat 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, 'O Allah! Be merciful to those who have their head shaved.' The people submitted, 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! And (invoke Allah for) those who get their hair cut short.' The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, 'O Allah! Be merciful to those who have their head shaved.' The people submitted, 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! And those who get their hair cut short.' The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated (the third time), 'And to those who get their hair cut short.' Hadrat Nafi' (upon him be mercy) said that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had said once or twice, 'O Allah! Be merciful to those who get their head shaved,' and on the fourth time he added, 'And to those who have their hair cut short.'
Urdu Translation
ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو امام مالک رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ نے خبر دی، انہیں نافع نے، انہیں حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے دعا فرمائی: اے اللہ! سر منڈوانے والوں پر رحم فرما! صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہم نے عرض کیا: اور کتروانے والوں پر؟ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اب بھی دعا فرمائی: اے اللہ! سر منڈوانے والوں پر رحم فرما! صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہم نے پھر عرض کیا: اور کتروانے والوں پر؟ اب آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اور کتروانے والوں پر بھی۔ لیث نے فرمایا کہ مجھ سے نافع نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اللہ نے سر منڈوانے والوں پر رحم فرمایا، ایک یا دو مرتبہ، انہوں نے بیان فرمایا کہ عبیداللہ نے فرمایا کہ مجھ سے نافع نے بیان کیا کہ چوتھی مرتبہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا تھا: اور کتروانے والوں پر بھی۔
