Hadrat Abu Shuraih (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that he said to Amr bin Sa'id — when he was dispatching troops to Makkah — O Commander! Permit me to relate to you a statement which the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) made on the day after the Conquest of Makkah. My ears heard it, my heart preserved it, and my eyes saw him when he spoke it. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) praised and glorified Allah the Exalted, then declared: Indeed, Makkah has been made sacred by Allah, not by people. So it is not lawful for any person who believes in Allah and the Last Day to shed blood therein or to cut down its trees. If anyone seeks permission for fighting in it based on the fighting of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), then tell him: Allah gave permission to His Messenger but did not give it to you. And I was only given permission for a brief period of one day, and today its sanctity has returned just as it was yesterday. Let those present convey this to those absent. Abu Shuraih (may Allah be well pleased with him) was asked: What did Amr say? He replied: He said: O Abu Shuraih, I know better than you. The Haram does not give protection to a disobedient person, nor to one who flees after committing murder, nor to one who flees after spreading mischief.

حضرت ابو شریح رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے عمرو بن سعید سے کہا — جب وہ مکہ مکرمہ کی طرف فوجیں بھیج رہے تھے — اے امیر! مجھے اجازت دیجیے کہ میں آپ کو وہ ارشاد سنا دوں جو نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فتح مکہ کے دوسرے دن ارشاد فرمایا تھا۔ میرے دونوں کانوں نے اسے سنا اور میرے دل نے اسے محفوظ کر لیا اور جب آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم یہ ارشاد فرما رہے تھے تو میری آنکھوں نے آپ کو دیکھا۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اللہ تعالیٰ کی حمد و ثنا بیان فرمائی، پھر ارشاد فرمایا: بے شک مکہ کو اللہ تعالیٰ نے حرام کیا ہے، لوگوں نے حرام نہیں کیا۔ پس کسی ایسے شخص کے لیے جو اللہ تعالیٰ اور یومِ آخرت پر ایمان رکھتا ہو جائز نہیں کہ اس میں خون بہائے یا اس کا کوئی درخت کاٹے۔ اگر کوئی شخص رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے (مکہ میں) لڑنے کا حوالہ دے کر رخصت نکالے تو اس سے کہو: اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنے رسول کو اجازت دی تھی، تمہیں نہیں دی۔ اور مجھے بھی صرف دن کی ایک گھڑی کے لیے اجازت ملی تھی، پھر آج اس کی حرمت اسی طرح لوٹ آئی ہے جیسی کل تھی۔ اور حاضر غائب کو پہنچا دے۔ ابو شریح رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے پوچھا گیا: عمرو نے کیا کہا؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: کہا کہ اے ابو شریح! میں تم سے زیادہ جانتا ہوں۔ حرم (مکہ) کسی نافرمان کو اور نہ کسی خون کر کے بھاگنے والے کو اور نہ کسی فتنہ و فساد مچا کر بھاگنے والے کو پناہ نہیں دیتا۔
