حدثنا أحمد بن إسحاق والفضل بن سهل قالاَ حَدَّثَنا أبو غسان عن قيس عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صالحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هريرة رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الناس معادن خيراهم في الجاهلية خيارهم في الإسلامإذا فقهواوَهَذَا الحديثُ لاَ نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صالحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ إلاَّ قيس
English Translation
Ahmad ibn Ishaq and al-Fadl ibn Sahl narrated to us, they said: Abu Ghassan narrated to us, from Qais, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) who stated: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: «People are like mines: the best of them in the pre-Islamic period are the best of them in Islam, when they gain understanding of the religion.» This hadith — we do not know that anyone narrated it from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) except Qais.
