حَدَّثَنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ المُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنا عبد الصَّمَد حدثنا شُعْبة عن سليمان عن ذكوان عن أبي هريرة رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قال لا يسوم الرجل على سوم أخيه ولا يخطب على خطبة أَخِيهِوَهَذَا الحديثُ لاَ نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ إلا شعبة ولا عن شعبة إلا عبد الصَّمَد وأحسب أن عبد الصَّمَد أخطأ فيه لأنه إنما يعرف من حديث سهيل عن أبيه عن أبي هريرة رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Sulaiman, from Dhakwan, from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: «A man should not make an offer over the offer of his brother, nor propose marriage over the proposal of his brother.» This hadith — we do not know that anyone narrated it from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) except Shu'bah, nor from Shu'bah except Abd al-Samad. I believe Abd al-Samad erred in this, because it is known only from the hadith of Suhail, from his father, from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him).
