English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abi Adi narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him), from the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) who stated: «The prayer of one of you in congregation exceeds his prayer in his house and in his marketplace by twenty-seven prayers. That is because when one of you performs ablution and perfects the ablution, then goes out to prayer, intending nothing but prayer — with nothing else drawing him — for every step he takes, a degree is raised for him and a sin is removed from him, until he enters the mosque. When he enters the mosque, he is in prayer as long as the prayer detains him. The angels say: 'O Allah, bless him. O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, have mercy upon him' — as long as he does not cause harm.»
