حَدَّثنا نصر بن علي وزيد بن أخزم الطائي قال نصر أخبرنا عَبد الله بن داود وَقال زيد حَدَّثنا عَبد الله بن داود قَال حَدَّثنا هشام بن عروة عَن أبي الزِّنَاد عَن الأَعرَج عَن أَبِي هُرَيرة عَن النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم قال قال سُلَيْمان بن داود لأطوفن الليلة على كذا وكذا امرأة أَحسَبُهُ قال مِئَة تلد كل امرأة منهن غلاما يقاتل في سبيل الله فطاف عليهن فلم تحمل منهن إلاَّ امرأة واحدة يقولون نصف إنسان فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم لو كان استثنى لحملت كل امرأة منهن غلاما يقاتل فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِوَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رواه عن هشام بن عروة عَن أبي الزِّنَاد عَن الأَعرَج عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ عَبد الله بن داود
English Translation
Nasr ibn Ali and Zayd ibn Akhzam al-Ta'i narrated to us -- Nasr said: Abdullah ibn Dawud informed us, and Zayd said: Abdullah ibn Dawud narrated to us, he said: Hisham ibn Urwah narrated to us from Abu al-Zinad from al-A'raj from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) from the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) who stated: «Sulayman ibn Dawud said: Tonight I will go around to such-and-such women -- I believe he said one hundred -- each of whom will bear a boy who will fight in the cause of Allah. He went around to them, but none conceived except one woman, and she gave birth to half a human being.» The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: «Had he made an exception (said 'if Allah wills'), each woman would have borne a boy who would fight in the cause of Allah.» This hadith -- we do not know anyone who narrated it from Hisham ibn Urwah from Abu al-Zinad from al-A'raj from Abu Hurairah except Abdullah ibn Dawud.
