حَدَّثنا عَمْرو بن بشر قَال حَدَّثنا معلى بن الفضل قَال حَدَّثنا الحسن بن علي عن عَبد الرحمن الأَعرَج عَن أبي هُرَيرة قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم يؤم القوم أقرؤهم لكتاب اللهوهذان الحديثان لا نعلم روهما عن الحسن بن علي عَن الأَعرَج عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ معلى بن الفضل وهُو رجل بصري لا بأس به وَالحَسن بن علي هذا لا نعلم روى عنه إلاَّ أَبُو قُتَيبة والمعلى بن الفضل وكل ما رواه عَن الأَعرَج عَن أبي هُرَيرة فلا نعلم أَحَدًا شاركه فيه إلاَّ حديث لا يمنعن أحدكم جاره أن يضع خشبة في جداره اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم يؤم القوم أقرؤهم لكتاب اللهوهذان الحديثان لا نعلم روهما عن الحسن بن علي عَن الأَعرَج عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ معلى بن الفضل وهُو رجل بصري لا بأس به وَالحَسن بن علي هذا لا نعلم روى عنه إلاَّ أَبُو قُتَيبة والمعلى بن الفضل وكل ما رواه عَن الأَعرَج عَن أبي هُرَيرة فلا نعلم أَحَدًا شاركه فيه إلاَّ حديث لا يمنعن أحدكم جاره أن يضع خشبة في جداره
English Translation
Amr ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Mu'alla ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, he said: al-Hasan ibn Ali narrated to us from Abd al-Rahman al-A'raj from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: «The one who leads the people in prayer should be the one who recites the Book of Allah best.» These two hadiths -- we do not know anyone who narrated them from al-Hasan ibn Ali from al-A'raj from Abu Hurairah except Mu'alla ibn al-Fadl, who is a Basran man, and there is no harm in him. Al-Hasan ibn Ali -- we do not know anyone who narrated from him except Abu Qutaybah and al-Mu'alla ibn al-Fadl. Everything he narrated from al-A'raj from Abu Hurairah -- we do not know anyone who shared in it with him except the hadith: 'Let not one of you prevent his neighbor from placing a beam in his wall.'
