حَدَّثنا مُحَمد بن بَشَّار قَال حَدَّثنا يزيد قال أَخْبَرنا مُحَمد بن عَمْرو عَن أبي سَلَمَة عَن أبي هُرَيرة قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم عن الوصال قالوا يا رَسولَ اللهِ إنك تواصل قال إنكم لستم كهيئتي إني أبيت يطعمني ربي ويسقيني ولاَ أعلمه إلاَّ قال فاكلفوا من العمل ما تطيقون صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم عن الوصال قالوا يا رَسولَ اللهِ إنك تواصل قال إنكم لستم كهيئتي إني أبيت يطعمني ربي ويسقيني ولاَ أعلمه إلاَّ قال فاكلفوا من العمل ما تطيقون
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to us, he said: Yazid narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Amr informed us, from Abu Salamah, from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade continuous fasting (wisal). They said: "O Messenger of Allah, you fast continuously." He stated: «You are not in my position. Indeed, I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me drink.» And I do not know except that he said: «So undertake from deeds only what you can bear.»
