حَدَّثَنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ حَدَّثنا أَبُو عَاصِم حَدَّثنا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَن أَنَسٍ قَالَ دَخَلَ عُمَر بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عَلَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وهُو عَلَى حَصِيرٍ قَدْ أَثَّرَ بِجَنْبِهِ الْحَصِيرُ فَدَمَعَتْ عَيْنَا عُمَر فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا يُبْكِيكَ يَا عُمَر قَالَ ذَكَرْتُ كِسْرَى وَقَيْصَرَ قَالَ أَلَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ لَهُمُ الدُّنْيَا وَلَنَا الآخِرَةُهَذَا لَفْظُهُ أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْهُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وهُو عَلَى حَصِيرٍ قَدْ أَثَّرَ بِجَنْبِهِ الْحَصِيرُ فَدَمَعَتْ عَيْنَا عُمَر فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا يُبْكِيكَ يَا عُمَر قَالَ ذَكَرْتُ كِسْرَى وَقَيْصَرَ قَالَ أَلَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ لَهُمُ الدُّنْيَا وَلَنَا الآخِرَةُهَذَا لَفْظُهُ أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْهُ
English Translation
Abu Kamil al-Jahdari narrated to us: Mubarak ibn Fadalah narrated to us from al-Hasan from Anas that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: «Shall I not inform you of the most generous of you?» They said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: «The most generous of you is the most generous with Allah. And the most God-fearing of you is the one who enjoins what is right and forbids what is wrong. And the one most connected to his kin is the one with the strongest ties of kinship.»
