حَدَّثنا إسماعيل بن يعقوب قَال حَدَّثنا مُحَمد بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ أَعْيَنَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَذِيمَة أَنَّ سَعِيد بْنَ جُبَير أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ حَبْتَرٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ النَّبِيذِ فَقَالَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم عَنِ النَّبِيذِ نَاسٌ قَدِمُوا مِنْ عَبد الْقَيْسِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسولَ اللهِ إِنَّا بِأَرْضِ رِيفٍ فَقَالَ رَسولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم انْتَبِذُوا فِي الأَسْقِيَةِ ولاَ تَنْتَبِذُوا فِي النَّقِيرِ ولاَ الْحَنْتَمِ اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم عَنِ النَّبِيذِ نَاسٌ قَدِمُوا مِنْ عَبد الْقَيْسِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسولَ اللهِ إِنَّا بِأَرْضِ رِيفٍ فَقَالَ رَسولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم انْتَبِذُوا فِي الأَسْقِيَةِ ولاَ تَنْتَبِذُوا فِي النَّقِيرِ ولاَ الْحَنْتَمِ
English Translation
Al-Hasan ibn Qaz'ah narrated to us, he said: Hushaym narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid, from al-Sha'bi, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both), who said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived in Madinah, the Jews used to fast the day of Ashura, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: «We have more right to Musa than you.» So he fasted it and ordered its observance. This hadith has been narrated from Ibn Abbas from more than one route, and the best chain is the chain of al-Sha'bi from Ibn Abbas.
