حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ قَالَ نَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ نَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ خَالِهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسًا فِي الْمَجْلِسِ فَشَخَصَ بَصَرُهُ إِلَى رَجُلٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَمْشِي فَقَالَ أَبَا فُلَانٍ قَالَ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلَا يُنَازِعُهُ الْكَلَامَ إِلَّا قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ لَهُ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ لَا قَالَ أَتَقْرَأُ التَّوْرَاةَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ وَالْإِنْجِيلَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ وَالْقُرْآنَ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَقَرَأْتُهُ ثُمَّ نَاشَدَهُ هَلْ تَجِدُنِي فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ قَالَ نَجِدُ مِثْلَكَ وَمِثْلَ هَيْأَتِكَ وَمِثْلَ مَخْرَجِكَ فَكُنَّا نَرْجُو أَنْ يَكُونَ فِينَا فَلَمَّا خَرَجْتَ خُوِّفْنَا أَنْ تَكُونَ أَنْتَ هُوَ فَنَظَرْنَا فَإِذًا لَسْتَ أَنْتَ هُوَ قَالَ وَلِمَ ذَاكَ قَالَ مَعَهُ مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِسَابٌ وَلَا عَذَابٌ وَإِنَّمَا مَعَكَ نَفَرٌ يَسِيرُ فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَأَنَا هُوَ وَإِنَّهُمْ لِأُمَّتِي وَإِنَّهُمْ لِأَكْثَرُ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا وَسَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ جَالِسًا فِي الْمَجْلِسِ فَشَخَصَ بَصَرُهُ إِلَى رَجُلٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَمْشِي فَقَالَ أَبَا فُلَانٍ قَالَ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلَا يُنَازِعُهُ الْكَلَامَ إِلَّا قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ لَهُ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ لَا قَالَ أَتَقْرَأُ التَّوْرَاةَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ وَالْإِنْجِيلَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ وَالْقُرْآنَ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَقَرَأْتُهُ ثُمَّ نَاشَدَهُ هَلْ تَجِدُنِي فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ قَالَ نَجِدُ مِثْلَكَ وَمِثْلَ هَيْأَتِكَ وَمِثْلَ مَخْرَجِكَ فَكُنَّا نَرْجُو أَنْ يَكُونَ فِينَا فَلَمَّا خَرَجْتَ خُوِّفْنَا أَنْ تَكُونَ أَنْتَ هُوَ فَنَظَرْنَا فَإِذًا لَسْتَ أَنْتَ هُوَ قَالَ وَلِمَ ذَاكَ قَالَ مَعَهُ مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِسَابٌ وَلَا عَذَابٌ وَإِنَّمَا مَعَكَ نَفَرٌ يَسِيرُ فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَأَنَا هُوَ وَإِنَّهُمْ لِأُمَّتِي وَإِنَّهُمْ لِأَكْثَرُ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا وَسَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahim narrated to us, he said: Affan narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Wahid narrated to us, from Asim ibn Kulayb, from his father, from his uncle, may Allah be well pleased with him, who said: The Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, was sitting in the gathering when his gaze turned to a man walking in the mosque. He said: "O Abu so-and-so." He said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah" - and he would not speak to him without saying 'O Messenger of Allah.' He said to him: "Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah?" He said: "No." He said: "Do you read the Torah?" He said: "Yes." He said: "And the Gospel?" He said: "Yes." He said: "And the Quran?" He said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, if we wished, we could recite it." Then he adjured him: "Do you find me in the Torah and the Gospel?" He said: "We find the likeness of you, and the likeness of your appearance, and the likeness of your emergence. We used to hope that he would be from among us, but when you appeared, we feared that you might be him. We examined, and you are not him." He said: "And why is that?" He said: "With him from his nation are seventy thousand upon whom there is no reckoning and no punishment, and with you there are only a few." He said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I am indeed him, and they are indeed my nation, and they are more than seventy thousand and seventy thousand." This hadith - we do not know anyone who narrates it from the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, except through this route with this chain.
