حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَرْحَبِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدَةُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بُعِثْتُ فِي نَفْسِ السَّاعَةِ سَبَقْتُهَا كَمَا سَبَقَتْ هَذِهِ هَذِهِ وَأَشَارَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى إِلَّا عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ نَحْوُ كَلَامِهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ بِأَلْفَاظٍ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ حَدَّثَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ إِلَّا عُبَيْدَةُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ السَّاعَةِ سَبَقْتُهَا كَمَا سَبَقَتْ هَذِهِ هَذِهِ وَأَشَارَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى إِلَّا عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ نَحْوُ كَلَامِهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ بِأَلْفَاظٍ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ حَدَّثَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ إِلَّا عُبَيْدَةُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Ala' Abu Kurayb narrated to us, he said: Yahya ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Arhabi narrated to us, he said: Ubaydah ibn al-Aswad narrated to us from Mujalid from Qays ibn Abi Hazim from al-Mustawrid (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'I was sent at the very onset of the Hour; I preceded it just as this preceded this' — and he pointed with his two fingers, the index and middle fingers. This hadith with this wording — we do not know it to be narrated except from al-Mustawrid from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Similar wording has been narrated from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) through other chains with different wordings, and we do not know of anyone who narrated this hadith from Mujalid except Ubaydah ibn al-Aswad.
