English Translation
Ibrahim ibn Abdullah ibn al-Junayd narrated to us, he said: Yahya ibn Abdullah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, he said: Abdullah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us from Abu Aqil Zuhrah ibn Ma'bad from his grandfather Abdullah ibn Hisham al-Qurashi al-Taymi (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: We were with the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and he was holding the hand of Umar ibn al-Khattab. Umar said: 'By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, you are more beloved to me than everything except myself.' The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'No, by the One in Whose hand is my soul, not until I am more beloved to you than your own self.' Umar said: 'Then now you are more beloved to me than my own self.' The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'Now, O Umar!' This hadith — we do not know it to be narrated except through this chain, and we do not know of anyone who narrates it from the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) except Abdullah ibn Hisham, and we do not know that Abdullah ibn Hisham narrated from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) except these two hadiths.
