وَحَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَا نا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الشَّبَابِ مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ ذَا طُولٍ فَلْيَنْكِحْ وَمَنْ لَا فَعَلَيْهِ بِالصَّوْمِ فَإِنَّهُ لَهُ وِجَاءً اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الشَّبَابِ مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ ذَا طُولٍ فَلْيَنْكِحْ وَمَنْ لَا فَعَلَيْهِ بِالصَّوْمِ فَإِنَّهُ لَهُ وِجَاءً
English Translation
Ahmad ibn Aban narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Wa'il, from Abdullah, who said: The division of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) — one of us would say to his companion: Do you not see that he seeks nothing but the life of this world? Then this verse was revealed: 'And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of them' [Quran 15:88 / 20:131].
