ثُمَّ قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ يَكُونَ مَنْ تَبِعَنِي مِنْ أُمَّتِي رُبُعَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ فَكَبَّرْنَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ يَكُونُوا الثُّلُثَ قَالَ فَكَبَّرْنَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونُوا الشَّطْرَ فَكَبَّرْنَا فَتَلَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ فَتَرَاجَعَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ لَا نَرَاهُمْ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ وُلِدُوا فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَلَمْ يَزَالُوا يَعْمَلُونَ بِهِ حَتَّى مَاتُوا عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَنَمَى حَدِيثُهُمْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَيْسَ كَذَا وَلَكِنَّهُمُ الَّذِينَ لَا يَسْتَرْقُونَ وَلَا يَكْتَوُونَ وَلَا يَتَطَيَّرُونَ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ فَتَرَاجَعَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ لَا نَرَاهُمْ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ وُلِدُوا فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَلَمْ يَزَالُوا يَعْمَلُونَ بِهِ حَتَّى مَاتُوا عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَنَمَى حَدِيثُهُمْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَيْسَ كَذَا وَلَكِنَّهُمُ الَّذِينَ لَا يَسْتَرْقُونَ وَلَا يَكْتَوُونَ وَلَا يَتَطَيَّرُونَ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ
English Translation
Then the Prophet of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: «Indeed, I hope that those who follow me from my Ummah will be a quarter of the people of Paradise.» He said: So we exclaimed Allahu Akbar. Then he said: «Indeed, I hope that they will be a third.» He said: So we exclaimed Allahu Akbar. Then he said: «Indeed, I hope that you will be half.» So we exclaimed Allahu Akbar. Then the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) recited: 'A multitude from the earlier ones, and a multitude from the later ones.' The Muslims then discussed among themselves: Who are these? We think they are only those who were born in Islam and never ceased acting upon it until they died upon it. He said: Their discussion reached the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and he said: «It is not so. Rather, they are those who do not seek ruqyah, do not cauterize themselves, do not believe in omens, and upon their Lord they rely.» This hadith — we do not know it to be narrated from Abdullah from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) except from this route with this chain of transmission.
