حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالَ نا مُحَاضِرٌ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ قَالَ جَلَسْنا إِلَى قَوْمٍ فَقَطَعُوا حَدِيثَهُمْ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ بِالْحَدِيثِ فَإِذَا جَلَسَ إِلَيْهِمُ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي قَطَعُوا حَدِيثَهُمْ فَقَطَعُوا حَدِيثَهُمْ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ بِالْحَدِيثِ فَإِذَا جَلَسَ إِلَيْهِمُ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي قَطَعُوا حَدِيثَهُمْ
English Translation
Narrated al-Abbas: We sat with some people and they cut short their conversation. I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he said: "What is the matter with people who talk, and when a man from my family sits with them, they cut short their conversation?"
