وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ أنا ابْنُ مِلْحَانَ ثنا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا اللَّيْثُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَامَ غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّى فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ لَقَدْ أُعْطِيتُ اللَّيْلَ خَمْسًا مَا أُعْطِيَهُنَّ أَحَدٌ كَانَ قَبْلِي فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ فِيهِ وَجُعِلَتْ لِيَ الْأَرْضُ مَسْجِدًا وَطَهُورًا أَيْنَمَا أَدْرَكَتْنِي الصَّلَاةُ تَمَسَّحْتُ وَصَلَّيْتُ قَالَ وَالْخَامِسَةُ قِيلَ لِي سَلْ فَإِنَّ كُلَّ نَبِيٍّ قَدْ سَأَلَ فَأَخَّرْتُ مَسْأَلَتِي إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فَهِيَ لَكُمْ وَلِمَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ
English Translation
Amr ibn Shu'ayb narrated from his father from his grandfather that on the night of the Battle of Tabuk, the Prophet (peace be upon him) stood for night prayer and mentioned five things given to him, including: "The earth was made a place of prayer and purification for me — wherever prayer catches me, I wipe and pray." And: "I was told to ask, for every prophet has asked. I delayed my request until the Day of Judgment — it is for you and for whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah."
