أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي ثنا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ثنا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبِي أَدْرَكَ الْإِسْلَامَ وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ رُكُوبَ الرَّحْلِ وَالْحَجُّ مَكْتُوبٌ عَلَيْهِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَنْتَ أَكْبَرُ وَلَدِهِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ أَكَانَ ذَلِكَ يجْزِئُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَاحْجُجْ عَنْهُ اخْتُلِفَ فِي هَذَا عَلَى مَنْصُورٍ فَرَوَاهُ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ هَكَذَا
English Translation
Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr said: 'A man from Khath'am came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, my father has reached Islam as an old man who cannot ride the mount, and the Hajj is prescribed upon him. Shall I perform Hajj on his behalf? He said: Are you his eldest son? He said: Yes. He said: Tell me, if your father had a debt and you repaid it, would that suffice? He said: Yes. He said: Then perform Hajj on his behalf.' There is disagreement about this from Mansur, and Jarir ibn Abd al-Hamid narrated it as such.
