وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا بَكَّارُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ الْقَاضِي ثنا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى الْقَاضِي ثنا أَبُو يُونُسَ حَاتِمُ بْنُ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ ؓ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ الصَّائِمُ الْمُتَطَوِّعُ أَمِيرُ نَفْسِهِ إِنْ شَاءَ صَامَ وَإِنْ شَاءَ أَفْطَرَ
English Translation
Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to say: 'The fasting person who is fasting voluntarily is the commander of himself — if he wishes he fasts, and if he wishes he breaks his fast.'
