أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا عَبَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْإِثْمِدِ فَإِنَّهُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ وَزَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَتْ لَهُ مُكْحُلَةٌ يَكْتَحِلُ مِنْهَا كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ ثَلَاثًا فِي هَذِهِ وَثَلَاثًا فِي هَذِهِ هَذَا أَصَحُّ مَا رُوِيَ فِي اكْتِحَالِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ
English Translation
Ibn 'Abbas reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Use ithmid (antimony kohl), for it clears the sight and makes hair grow.' And he claimed that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had a kohl container from which he would apply kohl every night — three applications in each eye. This is the most authentic narration reported about the Prophet's (peace be upon him) use of kohl.
