أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ بِبَغْدَادَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ السَّمَّاكِ ثنا حَنْبَلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ فِي بَيْتِ الْقَاسِمِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ سَيْفًا قَبِيعَتُهُ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَقُلْتُ سَيْفُ مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ سَيْفُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ
English Translation
Abu al-Husayn ibn Bishran in Baghdad informed us: Abu Amr ibn al-Sammak narrated to us: Hanbal ibn Ishaq narrated to us: Asim ibn Ali narrated to us: al-Mas'udi said: I saw a sword in the house of al-Qasim - meaning Ibn Abd al-Rahman - whose pommel was of silver. I said: Whose sword is this? He said: The sword of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud.
