وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نُصَيْرٍ الْخُلْدِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِصَدَقَةٍ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ هَذَا السَّخْلِ بِكَبَائِسَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي الشِّيصَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ جَاءَ بِهَذَا؟ وَكَانَ لَا يَجِيءُ أَحَدٌ بِشَيْءٍ إِلَّا نُسِبَ إِلَى الَّذِي جَاءَ بِهِ وَنَزَلَتْ {وَلَا تَيَمَّمُوا الْخَبِيثَ مِنْهُ تُنْفِقُونَ} [البقرة 267] قَالَ وَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْجُعْرُورِ وَلَوْنِ الْحُبَيْقِ أَنْ يُؤْخَذَا فِي الصَّدَقَةِ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ لَوْنَانِ مِنْ تَمْرِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَكَذَلِكَ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us: Ja'far ibn Muhammad ibn Nusayr al-Khuldi narrated to us: Ali ibn Abd al-Aziz narrated to us: Sa'id ibn Sulayman narrated to us: Abbad ibn al-Awwam narrated from Sufyan ibn Husayn, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Umama ibn Sahl, from his father who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered charity, and a man came from these low-quality date clusters. Sufyan said he meant shays (poor quality dates). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Who brought this?' No one would bring anything without being identified as the one who brought it. Then the verse was revealed: 'And do not aim at that which is bad to spend from it' [al-Baqara 267]. He said: And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prohibited al-Ju'rur and the variety called al-Hubayq from being taken in charity. Al-Zuhri said: These are two types of dates from Medina.
