أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ النَّضْرِ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَثنا زَائِدَةُ ح قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ثنا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ زِيَادَةَ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ يَقُولُ انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ فَقَالَ النَّاسُ انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللهِ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهَا فَادْعُوا اللهَ وَصَلُّوا حَتَّى تَنْكَشِفَ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to us... from al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah who said: The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on the day Ibrahim died. The people said it had eclipsed because of Ibrahim's death. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'The sun and the moon are two signs from the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse for the death of anyone nor for their life. When you see them, supplicate to Allah and pray until they clear.'
