أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ السَّكَنِ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ ثنا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ حَيَّانَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَرْمِي بِأَسْهُمٍ لِي فِي حَيَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذِ انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَنَبَذْتُهُنَّ وَقُلْتُ لَأَنْظُرَنَّ مَا يَحْدُثُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي كُسُوفِ الشَّمْسِ الْيَوْمَ قَالَ فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ رَافِعٌ يَدَيْهِ يُسَبِّحُ وَيَحْمَدُ وَيُهَلِّلُ وَيُكَبِّرُ وَيَدْعُو حَتَّى حَسَرَ عَنِ الشَّمْسِ فَقَرَأَ بِسُورَتَيْنِ وَرَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to us... from Abd al-Rahman ibn Samurah who said: While I was shooting arrows during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), the sun eclipsed. I threw them down and said: 'I will certainly see what happens to the Messenger of Allah during this solar eclipse today.' I reached him while he was raising his hands, glorifying, praising, declaring the oneness of Allah, saying takbir, and supplicating until the eclipse cleared from the sun. Then he recited two surahs and prayed two units of prayer.
