English Translation
Abu Zakariyya ibn Abi Ishaq and others informed us... al-Shafi'i said: There were destitute people during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) who came to him, so he forbade eating the sacrificial meat after three days so that those who had sacrificed would feed those who had not. Then when the situation eased, he permitted eating, feeding, and storing. He said: The prohibition was abrogated, and what is permissible is eating, feeding, and storing. He narrated from Malik from Abu al-Zubayr from Jabir from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he forbade eating the meat of the sacrifice after three days, then said: Eat, give charity, take provisions, and store.
