أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْحَمَامِيِّ الْمُقْرِئُ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ قَالَ قُرِئَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْهَيْثَمِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا الدُّنْيَا عَرَضٌ حَاضِرٌ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا الْبَرُّ وَالْفَاجِرُ وَالْآخِرَةُ وَعْدٌ صَادِقٌ يَحْكُمُ فِيهَا مَلِكٌ عَادِلٌ يُحِقُّ فِيهَا الْحَقَّ وَيُبْطِلُ الْبَاطِلَ
English Translation
Abu al-Hasan 'Ali ibn Ahmad ibn 'Umar al-Hamami al-Muqri' informed us in Baghdad... from 'Ali ibn 'Ayyash, from Isma'il ibn Sinan, from Abu al-Zahiriyyah, from Kathir ibn Murrah al-Hadrami, from Shaddad ibn Aws who said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: O people, this world is merely a passing provision; the righteous and the wicked eat from it. The Hereafter is a true promise in which an almighty King will judge; He establishes truth and abolishes falsehood.'
