English Translation
As for the hadith narrated by Abu Muhammad 'Abdullah ibn Yusuf... from Yazid ibn Harun... from Isra'il... from Abu Ishaq, from al-Harith, from 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: O 'Ali, I love for you what I love for myself and I dislike for you what I dislike for myself. Do not recite while bowing or prostrating; do not pray with your hair tied up, for it is the resting place of Shaytan; do not sit (like a dog) between the two prostrations; do not fiddle with pebbles; do not spread your forearms (on the ground in prostration); do not correct the imam; do not wear a gold ring; do not wear silk garments; and do not ride on red saddle-cloths.' Abu Dawud said: Abu Ishaq did not hear from al-Harith except four hadiths, and this is not one of them. The Shaykh (al-Bayhaqi) said: Al-Harith is not used as proof. And it is reported from 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) what indicates the permissibility of correcting the imam.
